A Bideford man has admitted starting a fire at a rented house in Exeter by setting light to a curtain.
Adam Peard, 25, formerly of Stucley Road, Bideford, admitted simple arson at the house but denied the more serious offence of being reckless whether life was endangered.
He also denied threatening to damage property before the fire at Newtown Close, Exeter, started in September last year. The house is owned by Spectrum Property Care.
He was remanded in custody by Judge Francis Gilbert, QC, to await a trial in February on the charges which he denies.
