A 16-YEAR-OLD from Bideford has been given a conditional discharge for criminal damage despite not complying with a youth rehabilitation order.
The teenage girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, committed the criminal damage at her mother’s home earlier this year.
She reappeared before the youth bench at North Devon Magistrates’ Court yesterday for failing to comply with the original rehabilitation order given to her on June 11 and breaching the referral order.
During the hearing the defendant admitted she would continue to refuse to work with the youth offending team or social workers.
Magistrate Ian Kingsbury said: “You see this puts us in a difficult situation, there are very few orders which will mean you don’t have to have some interaction with the services.”
After deliberating the matter the magistrates sentenced her to a 12-month conditional discharge, warning her not to commit any further offences.
