JACK LANGFORD showed no sign of ring rust as he reached the England ABA Senior Championship Western Counties final.

In his first bout of 2014, the Bideford ABC member beat Dan Smith, the experienced Launceston boxer, in Bournemouth.

Langford's superior work at range saw him win the first round and he dominated the second, landing heavy combinations.

Smith gave everything in the final round but Langford's counter-punching gave him the edge with an impressive display.

He will take on Pawel Augustnik, from Taunton, in the Western Counties final at Devizes on April 5.

Complacency proved costly for Ben Owen after making a strong start against long- time Devonport rival Darren Townley.

Owen had won their previous three meetings but Townley upped his workrate and took a split decision after the Bideford boxer was deducted a point for holding.
