BIDEFORD have moved to within four points of Tribute Western Counties (west) leaders St Austell.
While the top side were losing 28-17 away to third-placed Torquay Athletic, Bideford were earning a 22-3 victory over Ivybridge at King George's Field.
They came from behind, having conceded an early penalty, with catch-and-drive tries by Simon Bright and Pete Hockridge, the latter converted by Pat Sanders for a 12-3 lead.
Sam Olde then crossed after a burst by Richard Norman.
Adam Crouch secured the bonus point with the fourth try, which came against the run of play in the closing stages.
St Austell's second successive defeat means Bideford could be top of the league this time next week after they have played their game in hand at Honiton.
In Devon One, Torrington were beaten 28-6 at Salcombe but South Molton, playing their first league match since December 15, defeated Topsham 37-12.
Ilfracombe, in Devon Two, were 38-3 home winners over Buckfastleigh Ramblers.
