A NORTH Devon youth centre is set to re-open on saturday having had a £500,000 facelift.
The revamp of Bideford Youth Centre has taken six months and has seen the former tired and cramped building on The Pill be transformed into a state-of-the-art facility for young people in the town.
A grand opening is due to take place at the centre on Saturday between 3-7pm.
The building work, carried out by Devon County Council, has included a new extension to the youth rooms, including an open plan kitchen, seating area with pool table and TV.
The sports hall has been completely refurbished with under floor heating and air conditioning, while the upper floor has been made into an art room with interactive smart board and music studio with recording booth.
Councillor Stuart Barker, cabinet member responsible for the youth service said: "This is a landmark occasion for young people in Bideford.
"We want to see young people being supported and helped so we need to ensure we have the right locations and facilities. This new centre is superb and will more than fit the bill."
The centre will be open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays after school.
Any local young person can join and take part in the activities available, which include cooking, arts and crafts, discussions, help with projects, music work shops and recording sessions as well as lots of sports and dance in the refurbished hall.
