Bideford Blues record 1-2-3 in Torrington Back In Five

BIDEFORD AAC achieved a 1-2-3 in the Torrington Back In Five.

Ronnie Richmond led the way for the Blues in the five-mile road race in 28mins 2secs.

He was followed by Andrew Ingle in 28-28 and Keith Shapland in 29-08 as all three continued their preparations for the South of England Six-Stage Road Relays next week.

Jordan Blair, of host club Torrington AAC, was the leading junior in fourth place, finishing a second ahead of Bideford's Scott Braunton.

Marilyn Blair won the women's title for Torrington in 36-08, with club-mate Steph Olliffe third in 38-13. Angela Martin claimed second for Bude Rats in 36-29.

Shaun Antell, of Bideford AAC, was in action in the Cardiff 10k, finishing 18th in 31-32.

Sam Petty rounded off the track season with a personal best at the British Milers' Club meeting in Watford. The North Devon AC member finished third in the 800m A race in 1min 49.06secs, moving up to 22nd in the UK rankings.

On Sunday, a new multi-terrain event, hosted by the Rotary Club of Bideford, will take place in Westward Ho!

The Kipling Coastal Run starts outside the Pier House and will test runners and walkers over eight miles of lanes, beach and coastal paths.

Walkers and youth races start at 10am. The main race goes at 10.30am. All profits go to charity. To find out more email sue@rtmarke.co.uk

The Gliddon and Squire North Devon Cross Country League starts at Kingsley School, Bideford, on Sunday, October 6.

Three meetings will follow at West Buckland School on November 17, Arlington Court on December 8 and West Buckland again on January 12.
