Colin Pennington, of Bideford Blues, is the new president of the West of England Amateur Rowing Association.

He takes over from Exeter’s Nigel Wilmington and is the first Blues man to lead Weara since John Daniels in 2001.

Colin, 58, has been a member of the Blues for more then 47 years and still intends to compete regularly with crew-mates Nigel Cann, Steve Clements and his brother Neil.

He has been a prolific winner, including a South Coast Championship medal in 1992 and, most recently, being part of the Weara Championship veterans crew.

A highlight of his term at the helm will be the President’s Dinner and Prizegiving at the Durrant House Hotel in Northam on October 11.
