BIDEFORD BLUES are the West Country Cleaning Services North Devon Youth League under-16 champions.

They secured the title with a 4-0 win over Holsworthy last Thursday.

Mark Newman, the manager, said: "They are a great group of lads who have played some great football this season and I wish them well moving into their senior football."

Braunton took the honours in the under-10 division, beating Bideford Blues 3-0 in a final-day decider on Sunday.

Despite missing a number of players, Blues ensured it was a close game.

They are looking for new players for the 2013-14 season. Call Ross Drury on 07972 814245 for details.

Trials for a place in next season's Devon FA Girls' Centre of Excellence begin next month.

The first trial will be held at Ivybridge Community College from noon to 2pm on Saturday, June 15.

Players born between 1997 and 2006 are eligible to play in under-9, 11, 13, 15 and 17 age groups.

Visit devonfa.com for full details and to nominate a player for the trials.

Petroc have announced they will be sponsoring the new North Devon Under-18 League.

The competition is due to kick off next season and will give young players a chance to bridge the gap between under-16s and adult football.

Teams from Bideford, Barnstaple, Braunton and Petroc have already committed to the league.

Games will be played every two weeks on Sundays so players involved with senior Saturday football can still take part.

Anyone interested in the new league can attend a meeting at Petroc's Barnstaple campus on June 25 at 7pm.

For more information about the league, call Pete North on 07543 827224 or email pjnorth44@gmail.com
