BIDEFORD under-13s got off to a flying start with a win over Bude in which six players scored tries.
Facing the Cornish grit, they produced a performance of determination and speed.
The first try came from Toby Craven, with Callum Vingoe converting, and scores followed from Alessandro Aliberti, Rafael Rands Silva, captain Zackary Henstridge, Freddie Brimfield, and Max Walker.
Barnstaple dominated their game at Tiverton, winning 48-0.
They scored tries through Dylan Gosling, Johnny Bond and Robbie Hill to lead 19-0 at half time.
In the second half, Dylan (two), Johnny, Robbie and Tom Ballinger cross. Dylan (two) and Tom Swales (two) kicked conversions.
There was a meeting of two well-matched sides as Barnstaple under-15s lost 17-15 to Tiverton.
James Bellew finished out wide to give Barum the lead but two tries, one converted, put Tiverton 12-5 ahead at half time.
The Blues continue to pressurise through the back line and scored a try early in the second half.
There looked no way back for the visitors but, with the forwards leading the way and some penetrating running from Noah Stevens and Aaron Vella, they found one.
Oscar Carter-Burns got over the try line then the ball was spun wide for Ed May to score in the corner. Tom Squire was close with the conversion attempt but Tiverton were relieved to see it go off target.
Barnstaple twice went close to a match-winning try but their fightback had come too late.
Under-12s from Bideford and South Molton received tips from Bideford first-team players before Saturday's match against St Austell.
Ryan Pluckrose was chosen as the standout player and was presented with a ball signed by the Chiefs players.
The two sides then played a match, which South Molton won two tries to nil.
Oli Hannam, Findley Pettifer, Noah Harris and Corey Illing made searching runs for Bideford and there was strong tackling from Ryan, Harry Stickley and Callum Glover.
