Better future set for butter

DAIRY processor Muller-Wiseman has forecast that its new plant in Shropshire will produce 30,000 tonnes of butter in its first year out of more than 60,000 tonnes of cream.

The company said the £17m factory in Market Drayton can increase that to 45,000 tonnes of butter in a year, mostly for the domestic market but some will be for export.

Defra Secretary and the MP for the area, Owen Paterson, said the new development is the way ahead, adding value and growing new business.
