TWO pubs in Barnstaple are staging a ten-day beer festival showcasing ales and ciders from the region.
The festival, at The Panniers in Boutport Street and The Water Gate in The Strand, will run from Friday, March 1 until Sunday, March 10.
It will offer a selection of 18 real ales and two ciders, from 14 different breweries and cider makers in Devon. They will be on sale for £2.09 a pint.
The beers include the new and exclusive Farmers Folly by Red Rock Brewery and named by Wetherspoon customer Sean Arris, as well as new beers Seville Bitter by Otter Brewery and Diablo from O'Hanlon's Brewery, plus Dartmoor Brewery's Three Hares, Devon Glory from Exe Valley Brewery and Ginger Cider from Sandford Orchards.
As part of the event, the pubs will also be serving two festival meals, both inclusive of either a festival ale or cider. The traditional pasty and a pint will be £4.99 and the classic pie (steak and kidney) and a pint will be £5.99.
The Panniers manager, Alan Young, said: "The festival is a fantastic opportunity for real ale and cider enthusiasts in Barnstaple to sample a wonderful selection of drinks from Devon.
"It gives the pub and our customers the chance to support local breweries and cider makers and promote great beer and cider from our great county."
