Carol Anne Diamonds had to settle for a 41-41 draw after coming from behind to lead against Premier Romans.
Diamonds are enduring a difficult season in Netball South West Regional League.
They looked set for only their second win in six matches when they led 36-32 on Saturday. But Romans hit back to take the final quarter 9-5 and force the draw.
The visitors had led 14-11 after the first period but Diamonds edged in front 21-20 at half time and stretched their lead in the third.
Shooter Samme Ten Bokkel was player of the match, while Becky Watson and Harriet Jones both impressed.
Coach Sally King said: “It was a good strong performance in parts but it was still a game we should have won.”
King is desperate for her much-changed Diamonds side to avoid relegation. They are fourth from bottom but seven points clear of basement side Plymouth Marjon.
