AFTER stealing a coat from Atlantic Village a woman tried to hide her crime by disposing of it in a nearby bin.
Kelly Sorenson, 32, from Barnstaple, walked into the Trespass store in Bideford last Tuesday at around 2pm.
She selected a black coat worth £104.99 before putting it in her bag and walking out with it.
But she was spotted by a member of staff who alerted police and Sorenson was then arrested.
In an interview afterwards she said she went to Bideford to steal the coat because she thought she would be less well known there.
The court heard how Sorenson is due back in court in the coming weeks for similar shoplifting offences.
David Barnes, for the prosecution said: "It seems silly to make an order now that you are going to have to think about again."
But the court decided to deal with the case on the day and fined Sorenson £50 for the offence.
