A 16-YEAR-OLD boy has been warned he may face a custodial sentence after he appeared before magistrates for assaulting a classmate and teacher and committing a burglary in Barnstaple.
The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to assaulting the classmate and teacher on May 14 when he appeared before the youth bench at North Devon Magistrates’ Court today.
He also admitted committing a burglary on July 23 where he stole £385 of goods including a television, Nintendo DS and X Box games.
The case has been adjourned for sentencing until September 3 while the probation service carry out pre sentence reports.
Magistrates warned the defendant that if he did not co-operate with the probation service during the report preparation he could face a custodial sentence and be sent to a detention centre.
