A store worker who challenged a suspected shoplifter in Wilkinsons in Barnstaple on Saturday afternoon was rugby-tackled to the ground and left suffering back pain.
Police said the 23-year-old man, a sales assistant at the High Street store, challenged the suspected shoplifter just after 4pm and was “rugby-tackled” to the ground.
Officers said the victim suffered lower back pain but had no visible injuries.
A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said two suspects, both male teenagers, had been sought and were due to be questioned in connection with the incident.
The spokesman said police enquiries were ongoing but confirmed nobody else was being sought in connection.
