CAPTAIN Winston James believes "the best back line in the league" can again give Barnstaple the edge on Saturday.
Barum's backs were in fine form to beat Redingensians 12-3 at Pottington Road on the opening day of the National League Three South West season.
Barnstaple were driven back at every scrum by Redingensians' huge forwards but outplayed the visitors in every other area of the game.
James expects a similar scenario when he takes his side to Weston-super-Mare at the weekend. "I think they will be bigger," said the flanker. "But scrums are only one part of the game. We have got the best back line in the league."
Weston finished third last season, when they lost only once at home, and started the new campaign with a 33-8 win at Avonmouth Old Boys.
If they are bigger than Redingensians in the forwards, they are likely to be far more dangerous in the backs, too, and in fly half James Mackay have an outstanding goal kicker.
"These are the games I like, when you have to show real character," said James.
