THE BARNSTAPLE branch of Blockbusters is not on a list of 129 stores which administrators have announced will be closing down.
Blockbuster was forced to call in administrators Deloitte last week to take charge of its 528 stores across the country.
And within days Deloitte announced 129 of the chain's stores will be closed down in the next few weeks.
But the Barnstaple branch is not one of those stores and a Blockbuster spokesman said the store, on north Walk, would remain upon "at least for the foreseeable future".
Joint administrator Lee Manning said: "Having reviewed the portfolio with management, the store closure plan is an inevitable consequence of having to restructure the company to a profitable core which is capable of being sold.
"We would like to thank the company's employees for their support and professionalism during this difficult time. We are also grateful to the customers for their continued support."
Staff at the Barnstaple branch were unable to comment on the news.
Blockbuster's collapse came just a day after HMV went into administration, putting more than 4,000 jobs at risk.
And photographic retailer Jessops closed all of its 187 stores, including one in Barnstaple, earlier this month after major financial problems.
