BARNSTAPLE TOWN are top of the Toolstation Western League First Division – on alphabetical order.
A 3-1 win at Oldland Abbotonians this afternoon extended Barnstaple’s winning start to the season to four games.
They have an identical record to Bradford Town, who visit Mill Road next Saturday – four wins out of four, 13 goals scored and two conceded.
So Barnstaple have the edge thanks to having an ‘a’ as the second letter of the name.
Goals by Billy Tucker, Jack Jenkins and Lee Francis kept Barnstaple on their flying start to the league campaign.
It is the first time the club has won four Western League matches in a row since 2006.
Tucker put Barnstaple ahead in the first half from the penalty spot after a foul on Sam Stephens.
Oldland, who are still without a point this season, equalised before the break but were overcome by an improved performance from their visitors in the second half.
Jenkins struck from long range for his first goal since joining Barnstaple from Boca Seniors.
And Francis, who scored the winner against Wincanton Town on Tuesday, sealed the points when he poked the ball home after a long punt by goalkeeper Ryan Draper.
