BARNSTAPLE Town Council has voted to freeze its council tax, meaning overall people will pay 2.8% less than last year.
The town council has set its part of the council tax at the same level as last year which means, combined with a reduction in the council tax base, tax payers will pay a lesser amount this year.
A band D property will now pay £70.96 per annum as opposed to £73.05 for the town council's portion of the tax.
Town council clerk Anne Jenkins said: "Council has been able to freeze the precept demand by some careful budgeting.
"Councillors are very aware of residents' concerns on rising costs and have tried hard to keep costs down whilst still maintaining services."
