THE YOUNG Barnstaple Tarka E team kept their winning habit in the North Devon League.

The boys, all aged 12 to 14, top the fifth division with eight wins out of eight after beating Ashleigh Road A 14-2.

But with four matches to play, including two against second-placed Rock Park D, squad members Ryan Andrews, Alex Styles, Max Kilham, Bradley Phillips, Oliver Pinn and Kieran Rooney-Heason will be taking nothing for granted.

In the third division, Lyn A, with 12 points from their match against Park Lane B, took a stride ahead of Braunton A who did themselves some good with a 14-2 win over Rock Park C.

Rock Park A, second in the first division, gave their cause a boost with two 24-0 wins – over Chulmleigh A and Westward Ho! B.

Barnstaple Tarka B, augmented by Chris Gill, secured a 20-4 win over the club's A team.

In the battle of Barnstaple Tarka A and B in the ladies' first division, Jemma Sloman beat her mother Julia to help the A team win 18-6.

Jemma, partnering Chrissy Walsh, defeated Julia and Nicky Bennington 7-5, 6-4.

Westward Ho! A showed no mercy in whitewashing their B team 24-0.

In the second division Ilfracombe B have maintained their 100 per cent record and despite rain cutting short their match against Barnstaple Tarka C gained 12 points.

Braunton B took the lead in the third division with a 12-4 win over fellow challengers Park Lane A.

Rock Park C took 14 points from Westward Ho! E in a match curtailed by bad light to go top of the fourth division table.
