BEN VELLACOTT will miss Barnstaple's National Three south west game against Weston-super-Mare on Saturday after being named in the latest Exeter Chiefs under-18s squad.

The scrum half is in a 23-man party for the Academy League match against Harlequins on Saturday.

Vellacott, a Scotland under-18 international, missed Barnstaple's defeat at Avonmouth Old Boys last weekend. He was due to be playing for the Exeter academy side against Bristol on Sunday but the fixture was postponed.

Vellacott has made the Barum No 9 shirt his own this season following the departure of Nielson Webber and Richard Friend to Cornish All Blacks last summer.

Ross Williamson is likely to continue to deputise at scrum half against Weston. Williamson scored an early try as Barum took a 17-5 half-time lead at Avonmouth before losing 25-24.

Barnstaple colt Laurence May is also in the Exeter squad to face Harlequins at Bicton College.
