Giles Daniel’s penalty saw Barnstaple AAC earn a 3-3 draw against Braunton in the North Devon League Premier Division.
Daniel’s spot kick, his second goal of the game, saw Braunton knocked off the top of the table by Boca Seniors’ win at Dolton.
Sam Box, with two, and Ross Maynard got the goals for Braunton who fell behind to Daniel’s first and, after going 2-1 up, were pegged back by Craig Sandle’s 20-yard free kick.
Braunton regained the lead but, within minutes, Ammies drew level again through Daniel’s spot kick.
Boca made it nine wins out of nine with a hat-trick from Matt Deakin in a 5-1 victory. Ciaron Lishman scored twice for the third match running. John Kerr scored for Dolton.
Will Nicholls scored four as Bideford won 5-3 at Fremington in an eventful game that saw four penalties awarded.
Despite having Andy King red-carded for retaliation, Fremington fought back from 3-1 down at half time to level at 3-3 before Nicholls headed in a Nathan Bate cross and then converted his second penalty.
Nicholls, with two, and Mischa Howe gave Bideford their half-time lead, with Darren Roach replying for Fremington.
The 10 men also saw Mark Sanders hit the post from a penalty before a spot-kick from Josh Phillips and Simon Larcombe drew them level. But they were caught out as they chased an unlikely win.
North Molton beat Torrington 3-1 to climb above them into third place with a hat-trick from Jamie Giffard. Nathan Delaune scored for Torrington.
Half-time substitute Martin Davey scored a hat-trick for Shebbear United in a 6-2 win against Georgeham and Croyde.
Matt Coles and Richard Bissett were also on target. Georgeham’s goals came from Sean Creely (penalty) and Alex Marks.
