BREEDERS of Hampshire Downs are invited to enter their flocks in a new competition for £1,000 worth of prizes.
The Hampshire Down Sheep Breeders' Association is running the award with sponsorship by Caltech, who make high energy livestock feed licks.
The awards are open to commercial sheep producers in Britain using two or more performance recorded pedigree Hampshire Down rams over a portion of their flock and will be presented at NSA Sheep Event 2014 held at Malvern in July.
Entries close on April 30, with judging in June by ADAS sheep specialist Kate Phillips. She will take in to account overall flock performance, including genetics, health and technical and financial management, and marketing arrangements.
The Hampshire Down Sheep Breeders' Association's Richard Davis said: "We're delighted to be running this award again, to reward high performing commercial flocks."
