AS we have seen over the past 16 weeks, apprenticeships demonstrate how North Devon businesses are growing the skills the area needs to build a vibrant economy.

While employers put the programmes in place and train people, ultimately it is the apprentices themselves whose commitment and hard work determine their success.

The North Devon Journal Business Awards aim to recognise the area's apprentices and we have a specific category to celebrate the Apprentice of the Year.

Any employer can nominate their apprentices.

We invite nominations from all sizes of business, whether big or small, and from all sectors.

We know that apprentices in the smallest businesses sometimes make the biggest difference.

So let's round off the 2014 Apprenticeship Campaign with a celebration of as many North Devon apprentices as possible.

Nominate your apprentice at northdevonjournal.co.uk/businessawards

There are eight other awards categories for business to enter. The closing date is May 12.
