APPLEDORE have added to their squad by signing Cory Roach from Barnstaple Town.

The left-sided player is back in North Devon after a spell living in Cardiff and is available for the trip to Axminster Town on Saturday.

Appledore are aiming for their third consecutive win in the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League following their 2-0 victory over Plymstock United.

Goals from Mark Cann and Seth Hodorowski made it three wins from four games in first division (east) at Marshford.

Keith Shapland, the player-manager, said: "It was fairly comfortable. The only criticism is we could have been more clinical.

"That's probably been our downfall all year and probably why we have lost so many matches by the odd goal."

Josh Pearce and Nick Fishwick combined on the right wing and Fishwick crossed for Cann to head Appledore in front in the first half. Nick Glover then sent Hodorowski clear to make it 2-0 with his tenth goal of the season.

Although Hodorowski's first touch allowed the ball to bounce up, he was able to head past the onrushing goalkeeper.

With his pace and strength on the right wing, Hodorowski has been in fine form.

"When he first started up front he didn't get into it as much, but since I put him on the wing he's been scoring in most games," said Shapland.

"He needs to work a little bit on his defensive play but he's 17 and he's getting better with every game."

Hodorowski, Shapland and Cann all had opportunities to give the scoreline a more one-sided look.

Plymstock struggled to create chances and when they did make a rare opening, Luke Turner, the left back, made a goal-saving challenge.
