A SHOW combining acrobatics, ladders, dance and stunts heads to High Bickington on Sunday. Four artists from Carcassonne in France bring the energy and spirit of contemporary circus to North Devon.
Compagnie Hors Piste will perform Ordures et Ménagère, a show where everyday objects become part of an energetic, thrilling and humorous show.
It is the story of Mr and Mrs Anybody who have what you might imagine to be a quiet life. But things are not always as they seem. As the story unfolds we begin to see who the characters really are. As new uses are found for everyday objects, their lives are transformed into a contemporary circus by the use of brilliant choreography and memorable music.
All four artists are highly skilled performers and as one acrobatic lift flows gracefully into the next aerial somersault they make the whole thing appear completely effortless.
Compagnie Hors Piste were formed by a group of students from the internationally famous French National Centre of Circus Arts. Starting out with training in big top circus, they then decided to create shows that could be performed in all sorts of smaller and more intimate public spaces.
After a successful debut in 2012 at the Inside Out Dorset Festival, this Beaford Arts show will be their second appearance in the UK. Supported by European funding they are touring to rural venues across the South West this autumn.
Compagnie Hors Piste perform Ordures et Ménagère at High Bickington Community Centre on Sunday, September 22, 4pm. Tickets from High Bickington Community Centre on 01769 561387 or online from www.beaford-arts.org.uk.
