TWO Pilton pupils have taken home top prizes in the Appledore Book Festival short story competition.
Year 8 pupil Lauren Brewer took home first place in the 11 and under category, and Year 11 pupil Adele Collins was named the victor in the 12 to 16 category.
Both students, pictured right, entered the competition earlier this year, which challenged them to write a fictional story of no more than 500 words.
Pilton School's head of English Faye Hilton said she was delighted with her students' success.
She said: "We are extremely proud that our students have been recognised for their creative flair.
"A love of literature and an adaptable writing skill set are at the heart of what we provide for every student."
