There's plenty going on in North Devon this February half-term to keep the kids entertained. From adventure-filled days out to creative activity mornings, there are plenty of fun things on offer for the little ones to enjoy.

In our special half-term guide below, we've hand-picked a selection of the best activities and events happening in North Devon this week and provided all the information you need.

And if none of these tickle your fancy, why not head out into the great outdoors and soak up a little sunshine. There are plenty of beaches and nature parks across North Devon which are just waiting to be explored.

What: Activities Morning

Where: Ilfracombe Museum

When: Thursday, February 22. From 10.30am

It’s all hands to the deck at Ilfracombe Museum which is holding a special ‘Shiprecked’-themed activities morning on Thursday.

Young landlubbers need to be there for 10.30am for two hours of shipwreck trails, crafts and stories, and the chance to meet a real Lifeboat crew member and learn about their rescue missions at sea. Youngsters can also have a go at tapping out SOS messages on the RNLI’s ship to shore radio.

The morning session costs £1.50 per child, and allows an accompanying adult to go along for free. There is no need to book, but contact Sara or Jane on 863541 for more information.

What: Half-term fun at The Big Sheep

Where: The Big Sheep

When: February 16 to February 24

Kids of all ages can swap the classroom for a fun-filled day out at The Big Sheep this half-term. The world famous family attraction is opening especially for the half-term week, from February 16 to February 24.

Spring is almost in the air and the maternity wing will be full of resident ewes waiting to give birth. You might even be lucky enough to witness a white woolly creature enter the world. Last year visitors were amazed as they watched ewes give birth right before their eyes .

Older children might enjoy heading to Battlefield Live! with its state of the art laser guns. Battlefield Live will be running an action packed activity morning on Thursday from 10am to 12.30pm for children aged between 8 to 16 years.

For two and a half hours, teams will battle it out with mission invasions and attacks and will learn to develop some first class sabotage strategies to defend their team as they take over helicopters and bunkers to win the battle. Booking essential on 01237 424444.

Younger children, meanwhile, can enjoy Ewetopia, a massive indoor heated play area, which is heated during the winter. There’s a selection of slides as well as soft play climbing areas, tumble towers, mazes and obstacles. Parents can either play with the children or unwind with a coffee and watch the children from a safe distance.

What: Workshops

Where: The Yarner Trust, Welcombe

When: February 16 to February 24. From 10am-1pm

The Yarner Trust at Welcombe is offering a series of exciting and original workshops for all the family during half term. Whether it's making paper, creating a 3D character or building a bird from recycled materials, the Yarner Trust has something for all. The workshops are suitable for children aged 8 - 14. However, children between 5 and 8 can attend if they have a parent or carer working one-to-one with them.

Workshops run from 10am to 1pm and cost £5 per child and £3 per adult. All children must be accompanied by an adult. For further information contact Emma on 01288 331 389 or email familydays@yarnertrust.org.

What: Children’s party

Where: Atlantis Adventure Park at Atlantic Village

When: Friday, February 22. From 6pm-8pm

Atlantis Adventure Park at Atlantic Village is hosting a party on Friday in support of local charity - Care for Kids North Devon – and will include indoor play, rides and a raffle Tickets cost £4 per child (adults are free), but they must be pre-booked. The party starts at 6.00pm until 8.00pm. Call 01237 478888 to book.

What: Circus Skills with Circus Berzercus

Where: The Plough Arts Centre, Torrington

When: Wednesday, February 20

Ever fancied learning how to juggle? Now's your chance as the circus is in town for half-term. Circus Berzercus will be performing at The Plough Arts Centre in Torrington on Wednesday at 5.30pm. Hilarity for all the family is guaranteed with juggling, music, hilarious misunderstandings combined with brilliant circus skills and audience participation.

For anyone who wants to have a go themselves, there is a Family Circus Skills Workshop from 2.00pm to 4.30pm for all ages and abilities on the same day as the performance.

Skills include juggling, plate spinning, balancing, scarf/poi, wire walking, diablo, club swinging, ribbon dancing and basic acrobatics/human pyramids. Families welcome. What: Drama workshop

Where: The Plough Arts Centre, Torrington

When: Friday, February 22

The Plough Play Story half-term special on Friday is a drama starter workshop for.

A drama starter workshop for 3-5 year olds will be held at The Plough Arts Centre in Torrington on Friday.

Richard Wolfenden-Brown will help children explore a fairy story then bring it to life with characters and costume in the theatre.

The Plough Play Story workshop will run from 10.30am – 11.30am. Tickets cost £3 (parents free). For more information, call the box office: 01805 624624.

What: Animated Exeter

Where: Exeter city centre

When: Monday, February 18 to Saturday, February 23

If you fancy travelling a little further afield, you could head down to Exeter and enjoy its annual animation eek.

Whether you’re into animation, an avid gamer, visual effects fanatic or just want to treat yourself to some extraordinary entertainment, Animated Exeter is well worth a visit. It’s an independent animation festival that attracts around 20,000 into Exeter’s city centre during the February half-term.

The festival will sizzle with a rich combination of street games, talks on gaming development, animation for games and a full-on Game Jam. But there’s more: whether you are a keen young animator, a family looking for a fun day out or just enjoy animated films, there’s something for everyone including animation in the streets of the town.

Throughout the week there are great workshops for all ages and a free outdoor finale show in Belmont Park on Saturday, February 23 at 6.30pm.

What: Art workshop

Where: RHS Rosemoor, Torrington

When: Thursday, February 21

Why not head over to RHS Rosemoor on Thursday for a session of scarecrow making.

Children can draw or paint a colourful scarecrow and then add them to the giant collage of fields and farms. There are two sessions on Thursday, one from 11am-1pm and one from 2pm-4pm.

Price: Normal garden entry.
