Here is a list of North Devon's nudist beaches

Sometimes it's too hot even for a swimsuit. Sometimes you just want to be able to visit a beach and feel… "free".

Therefore, if you're looking for a naturist beach in or around North Devon then, perhaps surprisingly, there are a few around!

Many of the beaches are well established and if you follow local rules and regulations you should be able to stay out of trouble.

According to the Crown Prosecution Service, naturists shouldn't be prosecuted unless they are involved in an offence other than public nudity.

The advice states: "In the absence of any sexual context and in relation to nudity where the person has no intention to cause alarm or distress it will normally be appropriate to take no action unless members of the public were actually caused harassment, alarm or distress.

"In this case such conduct should be regarded as at most amounting to an offence under section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986; and regard needs to be had to the question of whether a prosecution is in the public interest."

So if you do want to work on that all-over tan, where can you go?

These North Devon beaches have been listed in national guides as being wholly or partly welcoming to naturists...

Sillery Sands - Lynmouth
Wild Pear Bay - Combe Martin
Saunton Sands

And one a little further… Flexbury Beach – Bude

There are also plenty of others dotted around Devon and Cornwall:

Weston Mouth (between Sidmouth and Seaton)
Budleigh Salterton
Petit Tor (Torquay)
Slapton Sands
Carlyon Bay - Polgaver Beach
Vault Beach (near Gorran Haven)
Porthluney Cove (part of the Caerhays estate)
Porth Kidney (Lelant)
Pothzennor Cove
Perranport - Perran Beach
Gunwalloe Cove, Mullion

I just wish that I had started being 'nude' around the house and at a 'clothing optional' beach earlier in my life. As for someone stating that this is a 'mental disorder' to be nude, . . . we were ALL born that way and only forced to put clothes on because it is the social mores of the culture.
