3ft charity dog is stolen from outside butcher's

A DOG-SHAPED collection box has been stolen from outside a Braunton butchers.

The 3ft tall container was taken from Reeds Butchers in Braunton on Monday, January 6.

The theft took place between 6.30am and 5pm, when staff first discovered the donation box was missing.

It was collecting money for Guide Dogs for the Blind and is thought to have contained up to £30 in change.

Various guide dog boxes featuring a golden retriever have been placed outside the butcher's daily for the past 20 years.

Owner Tony Reed said: "If people want bones for their pets we don't charge, we ask them to put a donation in the box instead.

"Charity box theft is absolutely terrible. We have never had anything like this happen to us before."
